    a. Sarah Craig was born 1 Feb 1743 and baptized 21 Oct 1774 [s/b 1744] by Rev. John Craig. She first married James Ely and went to Lincoln County, Kentucky. There were two children of this marriage: James, and Chloe who married Harry Cowen. Sarah later married a Mr. Thorpe and had another son. Some family historians say that Sarah first married Thorpe and then Ely but this is doubtful. Her father in his will dated 2 Feb. 1791 referred to here as "Sarah Ely or Thorp" and provided that her brother George was to pay her six pounds yearly for life. The accounts for George's estate show that Sarah Thorpe was paid through 1816.
