S1, p. 13: "sufficient reason to believe that the family name of Sarah, the wife of James Cock, was Clarke, probably sister of Samuel Clarke". The explanation on p. 281 seems to argue this based on common occurrence of Clark, Samuel and Richard as names within the Cock family for several generations, and some unnamed evidence pointing to Sarah's origins being in Rhode Island, suggesting that her father was a near relative of John Clarke who arrived at Boston in 1637 and moved to Rhode Island in 1639.
