Spencer, with 2 males under 5 (Maxwell and Joseph?), 1 male 20-30, unknown, 1 male 30-40 (Thomas would have been 31), and 1 female 20-30 (Sinia would have been 23). They had no slaves. In this census, no father, i.e., Thomas Jefferson Spencer, was in the home. !DEATH: In Logan Co, KY, Wills Book I-J, pg. 455, a settlement was recorded with "J. H. Spencer, Adm. of T. J. Spencer, decd." and distributed $168.23. dated 28 July 1866. This came after Sinia Spencer (T. J.'s wife) died, sometime around 23 July 1866. Her will was dated 14 June 1866, and she knew she was in bad health, according to her will. Did the settlement of the deceased husband wait until after the widow has died, also? |
