I Samuel West am the fifth son of Elder Thomas West of Hopkinton in the state of Rohde Island, my mother's name was Amie Colegrove, dau of Francis Colgrove, her mother was a Bailey. My father had seven sons and four daughters born in the following order.

Susanna, born at Newport, June 3, 1756.
Phebe, born at Newport and died in infancy.
Michael, born at Hopkinton, Dec 15, 1759.
Thomas, born at Hopkinton, Feb 21, 1762.
Francis, born at Hopkinton, Apr 15, 1764.
Samuel, born at Hopkinton, Oct 6, 1766.
Ebenezer, born at Hopkinton and died in infancy.
Joseph, born at Hopkinton, Oct 4, 1771.
Amie, born at Hopkinton, Apr 3, 1774.
Abigail, born at Hopkinton, Jul 31, 1776.
