He was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Cuba, Ala. He moved to Lubbock in 1932. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1940, and he attended Texas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, and he was a member of the American Legion, First Baptist Church, Timothy Sunday School Class and the Red Raider Club. He married Betty Turner on June 8, 1952, in Lubbock. He owned Texaco service stations in Lubbock for 46 years. Survivors include a son, Jimmy of Carrolton; a daughter, Judy Morgan of Pueblo, Colo.; a brother, George of Lubbock; a sister, Annie Mat Angel of Big Spring; and two grandchildren. |
