Samuel1 Platts, cousin of Jonathan Platts, came to Rowley, about 1653, with his wife, Sarah. … He married (2) 19 Dec., 1682, Philippa Felt of Salem, probably a widow. His home, after 1660, was on Main Street, on land purchased previous to 15 Feb., 1660-1, of Joseph Jewett. "Joseph Jewett to Samuel Platts, one dwelling house and seven acres ¾ of plow land lying or joining to ye above said dwelling house" (Ipswich Deeds, 2:137). A small portion of this land was part of the lot laid out to William Bellingham. The house in which he lived is now (1932) owned by the Rowley Historical Society. We find no record of his death or of the settlement of his estate.
