Mellor HISTORY: MORGAN COUNTY OHIO HISTORY (Published about 1883) *- MELLOR: Page 357 Samuel MELLOR, Jr., one of the pioneers of Ohio was born in Liverpool, England in 1794. In 1802 the family emigrated to Washington County, Ohio, where they resided until 1833 when they removed to Morgan County, Ohio (This is the first County North of Washington County and they probable did not move far) and settled on a farm in the southern part of Malta Twp. (Malta village is about 35 miles north of Marietta with some descendants of Susannah Mellor and her husband Hiel DUNSMOOR still there). He was a farmer and also worked at his trade - coopering. Samuel Jr. MELLOR died 1880 aged 86. A prominent citizen and served several years as infirmery director. His first wife was Margaret YOUNG of Washington County, who bore six(?) children: 1). HISTORY: FROM WASHINGTON COUNTY OHIO HISTORY - WILLIAMS (Published 1882) - Page: 645 About 1795 Samuel MELLOR, Sr. and his brother-in-law, Matthew Corner emigrated with their families from England and settled on donation lands along the west bank of Wolf Creek (probably east branch of Wolf Creek in "Bear Creek Allotment") in Watertown Twp.
