  • Vol. 2 - Lessley vs. Lessley--O. S. 145; N. S. 50--Bill, 29th September, 1804. Complainants are, viz: Rachel Crawford (wife of Alexander), Sally Henderson (wife of John), Polly Bell (wife of Robert), Agness Evans (wife of Morgan), only children, heirs and devisees of James Lesly, deceased, of Augusta. James died in 1775 testate. The widow died a few weeks after James, leaving oratrixes infants. Two executors in 1779 sold the land to Robert Rogers, who afterwards moved to Tennessee, Blount County. Elizabeth McCune deposes 24th November, 1775, in Augusta, that her daughter, Mary Lessley, on her death bed, &c. Elizabeth was wife of Samuel McCune.

2. SAMUEL3 MCCUNE, SR. (FRANCIS2, ?1) was born Abt. 1720 in Armagh, Ireland1, and died April 26, 1802 in Staunton, Augusta, Virgina. He married ELIZABETH WILLIAMS Abt. 1740 in Augusta, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1725 in Augusta, Virginia, and died August 1804 in Augusta, Virgina.

Notes for SAMUEL MCCUNE, SR.: In 1749 and 1754 he purchased parts of the old McCune plantation. In 1764, he had a cattle brand recorded. In 1780, he was appointed road surveyor. In 1798, his will was recorded and in 1802 the will was probated.
