Lapsley, Samuel - entered service in Virginia; died 1786 at Fort Pitt (now Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) on way home to Virginia while on trip to Kentucky; married 10/1785 to Margaret Irvin (Marriage Bond 10/2/1785 between soldier & Peggy Irvine), Lincoln County, Kentucky; widow married (2) 6/18/1798 to Reverend John Lyle, Mercer County, Kentucky, who died 7/1825; Sally Woods born 7/29/1786, daughter of soldier & Margaret, granted Bounty Land Warrant #1301 10/29/1792 as his heir-at-law, & she married Mr. Witherspoon; widow children's births by 2nd husband Reverend Lyle: John r. 8/8/1800, Abraham t. 9/9/1801, & Joel Andrew 5/24/1803; widow applied for Pension Fayette County, Kentucky but died there 10/21/1842 before claim sent to Pension Office; son John R. Lyle applied for Pension for her children in 1844 there, & granted; John Lyle (ruling ender of Timber Ridge Church, Rockbridge County, Virginia, born 7/10/1746 there when are in Augusta County, Virginia, & his widow Nora Reid ws born 2/1743, their children's births: Andrew 3/1768, John (2nd husband of Margaret Irvin above) 10/20/1769, Joel 12/19/1774, William 9/19/1779, Martha 10/1781, Jane 5/28/1782 (married Mr. Findlay): widow's son Abraham T. Lyle married 7/1820 Frances H. Hundley, their children's births: John Andrew 10/5/1823 & Joel Irvin 3/10/1826; widow's son John R. Lyle married 1/1/1833 to Sarah M. Irvin. F-W9149, R1524.
