Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, Who Came from Barkhamstead, England and Settled at, p. 38: "Samuel Rice when an infant, was given by his father to his "brother and sister King for their own." His mother d. when he was about two weeks old. It is probable that his uncle King brought him up and adopted him as his son." 27 Jan 1718/19 John Rice of Sudbury was made guardian for 5 children (not named) of "Samuel King, alias Rice". However, this source gives them as Peter, m. Elizabeth Flagg; Abigail, d. unm; Ezra; Samuel; Edward.
