Samuel was in Captain Johnson's Company, engaged in the "Great Swamp Fight ". He died from the effects of the fight the next year. Samuel probably lived in East Braintree on Commercial Street south of Elm Stree. He was in the War against King Philip with the Suffolk Troops and was at the Great Swamp Fight on 19 December 1675. He died before he father, probably from serving in Philip's war. Inventory of his estate was taken 26 October 1676 by John French and Caleb Hobart: "House & land Ð105 etc." His wife was granted administration 31 October 1676. Savage says "Vinton's list of children is different from this, and may be better." His father's will dated 31 October 1678 provides for children of Samuel in right of their father.
