Notes

I believe that Alexander Eakin B:1789 and married to Jane Clinbell to be the son of Samuel Eakin and Mary Moore and NOT the son of James Eakin and Isabella Moore as has been assumed.

Evidence for this conclusion:

- Alexander's birth in 1789 aligns with Samuel's and Mary's marriage date of 1787. Though not impossible, his birth would have been at the outer limits of fertility for Isabella B: 1742.

- Per the 1820 Federal Census, Alexander and Samuel appear to be the last Eakin in Rockbridge County listed.

- Alexander marries very late in life (39) to Jane and they have only one child that I can determine. This would be consistent with Alexander remaining at home until his father passed away probably before this date in 1829.

Samuel and Mary MAY have had another child "Sallie", possibly Sarah. A Sallie Eakin (B:1790) appears living with the widow Jane Eakin in 1870 Census. Needs more research.
