  2. Samuel Cole, in Savage, James. A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England: Showing Three Generations of Those Who Came Before May, 1692, on the Basis of Farmer's Register. (Boston: Little, Brown, and Co, 1860-1862)
    1:429-430.

Samuel (Cole), Boston, came in the fleet with Winth. and with his w. Ann join. the ch. as Nos. 40 and 41 of the mem. desir. adm. as freem. 19 Oct. 1630, and was sw. 18 May foll. and of ar. co. 1637, being one of its found. The first ho. of entertain. in B. was open. by him 1633. His w. d. early, and how many ch. she had is not cert. but prob. the sec. w. wh. was wid. Margaret Green, and his third, m. 16 Oct. 1660, Ann, wid. of Robert Keayne, gave him none. The will, of 21 Dec. 1666, pro. 13 Feb. foll. speaks of s. John; d. Eliz. w. of Edward Weeden; Mary, w. of Edmund Jackson, and his ch. by her, Elisha, and Eliz. gr.ch. Sarah, w. of John Senter; gr.s. Samuel, eldest s. of his s. John; and gr.ch. Samuel Royal, ch. of Phebe Green, d. of his sec. w. that was w. of William Royal; so that we may well infer, that most of his own ch. if not all, were b. in Eng.
