Samuel Bailey: Biographical Information
Samuel Bailey married Elizabeth Bennett. Elizabeth Bennett was the youngest daughter of Adam Bennett, the enslaved overseer at Magnolia Plantation on the Ashley River, St. Andrews Parish, Charleston, South Carolina.
We know little as yet of Samuel's life before he married Elizabeth.
Samuel and Elizabeth were enumerated in the 1920 Federal Census for Charleston Ward 12, Charleston, South Carolina. At that time, Samuel was employed as a laborer in a phosphate mill. Their household was:
