Sam Anderson
Facts and Events
The Sept 28 issue of the Daily Journal of Flint, Michigan reports the wedding of Edward Dowd and Miss Ella Haynes at St. John's Catholic church on Monday morning. And so the last of the Withrow trio has succumbed to cupid's darts and from now on will walk an upright life, Sam Anderson, J. J. Withrow and Ed Dowd composed a trio of supposedly incurable bachelors which for many years inhabited the Withrow country and were thought to be incurable. One day Sam Anderson wandered away to Spokane and took unto himself a wife. Upon the fall of same the remaining two met and resoluted against Sam, pointing with pride to their superior courage in withstanding cupid assaults, viewing with alarm Sam's fallen state. By and by J. J. went to Spokane, caught the microbe and was married, which left Ed alone in bachelor solitude. Then Ed viewed with alarm the contagion and pointed with pride to his free and untrammeled bachelorhood. But now, alack and alas, Ed has fallen and never again will he feel like trusting frail man while the matrimonial microbe is at large. [Douglas County Press 14 Oct 1915] References
