    Ruth Morgan Johnson 1919-2009
Ruth Morgan Johnson, 90, passed away at a local assisted care facility in Emmett, Idaho on Oct. 9, 2009. Ruth was born Sept. 5, 1919 in Nampa, Idaho, the third daughter of Earl and Elma Rash. The family later moved to Valley County and Ruth graduated from Cascade High School in 1936. She then attended Lewiston Teachers College for two years and after graduation taught school for one year at Arling. In January 1939 she married Edward Morgan in Cascade and they made their home in the small logging town of MacGregor, Idaho two miles south of Donnelly. In 1940 the logging company moved houses and all by railroad to New Meadows where Ruth lived until 2003. Ed died in March of 1962 and Ruth went to work for the Idaho First National Bank in Boise. In October of 1963 she married Lawrence H. Johnson in New Meadows where they continued to reside. Ruth and Lawrence enjoyed playing golf, camping, and traveling. She played the piano for many funerals and weddings along with other community functions. She did substitute teaching when needed over the years and was very active in the Rebekah Lodge. Lawrence passed away in July of 2001 and in April of 2003 Ruth moved to Cascade to be closer to her daughter. Since April of 2005 she has resided at the Apple Valley Assisted Residence in Emmett due to complications of Alzheimer's. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Donna (Duane) Petersen of Cascade, granddaughter, Kim (Perry) Obendorf of Boise, three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Lucas and Emma Obendorf, son-in-law, Daryl Dillon of New Meadows, a stepdaughter, DeEtte McCarty of New Meadows and stepson Larry (Peggy) Johnson of Nampa and four step grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands Ed and Lawrence, daughter Ann Dillon, granddaughter, Leah Dillon, sisters Georgia Thompkins and Dorothy Bain. At Ruth's request there will be no services. Cremation will be followed with internment at Cloverdale Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the staff of Apple Valley Residence for their loving care and friendship and to Harrison's Hope Hospice for their support.
