Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, p. 150, says Ruth, the wife of John Reed, "died in 1703". It is true that no wife is named in John's will of 1723, meaning that she certainly died by that date. But presuming a death in 1703 is a ridiculous misapplication of a partial Woburn death record, since even Reed notes that daughter Ruth was born in 1708. The death record in question, for an unnamed wife of John Reed, in 1703, refers to Family:John Reed and Elizabeth Holden (1), since this John remarried soon after (1705) to Abigail Baldwin.
