Blind in one eye; kicked in head by a horse when about thirteen. Spent all of life as a farmer in Wirt County on a piece of land off Limestone Ridge that was later owned by Richard and Eugene Boice and their families.

After the death of Mary Mildred, his wife, sold the farm and lived at the home of Hazel Boice Cline (his daughter) and Robert Cline in Charleston.

Funeral Services were arranged by Franklin Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV. Rev. L. Craig Michael (Pastor then at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charleston) officiated. Interment was in Dunkard Cemetary, Wirt County, WV.
