"My grandmother, Rose Arobine Wardwell, was very conscious of her flowery name. Her son, Lewis Melbourne Arey, said that "Roselthea" was her first name. Her daughter Mary Blanche Arey, said her real name was Rose, and that her husband only called her Roselthea to tease her. Her marriage is recorded as "Rose A. Wardwell", her death in San Diego was recorded as "Rose Arobine Arey". The other surviving daughter, Fannie Estelle Arey (my mother) died in 1914 when I was too young to ask." --Robert Wardwell Moodie (1969)
