Rose was the second wife of Lionel Chute of Ipswich who died before 25 Feb 1644. His first wife was Thomasin Barker mother of their son James. It is very probably this same Rose widow of Lionel Chute married shortly after Lionel's death to Matthew Whipple who made provision in his will for his wife Rose. The author discusses the theory she was Barker which is probably incorrect since Lionel's first wife was certainly Barker and her maiden name was probably conflated with his first wife. He maiden name is unknown.
