    Robert Stockton was a son of Robert and Isabel Stockton of Pennsylvania.

    Robert married Sarah (nee Keith) Fleming, the widow of John Fleming.

    Robert moved to Shepherdtown, which was then in Virginia, but is now Shepherdtown, Jefferson County, West Virginia, where he died. Berkeley County boarders Jefferson County, West Virginia. This was all Virginia until the Civil War.

    They were the parents of:
    Major George Stockton, b. 20 July 1745
    Isabella or Sarah Stockton
    and Robert Stockton, b. 8 July 1772

    Major George Stockton was one of the first settlers in what is now Fleming County, Kentucky.
    Robert Stockton was killed by Indians, maybe in 1787.

    Sarah (nee Keith) Fleming and her first husband, John Fleming, were the parents of Colonel John Fleming.

    Major George Stockton and Colonel John Fleming were half brothers. It was Major George Stockton who named Flemingsburg in honor of Colonel John Fleming.
