Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:


  • 13 March 1745 - Land Survey for Robt. Renick for 300 acres on Branch of Cedar Creek, by Thomas Lewis, Surveyor. [Orange County Virginia Deed Book 10, Dorman, pg. 53].


Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:


  • Robert Renick received a patent for 400 acres of land "on Buffalo Lick branch", on 10 June 1740, as shown in the dispositions below. The original deed for this acquisition is likely located in Orange County (the predecessor county of Augusta), Virginia records, where deeds were recorded prior to late-1745.

1757 - July 25th, Robert Renick, at Forks of James River, killed; Thomas Moor, at Forks of James River, killed; Mrs Renick and 7 children, at Forks of James River, prisoners; Mrs. Denis, at Forks of James River, prisoner; John Crawford, Jr., at Craig's Creek, killed; John Alex. Crawford, at Craig's Creek, wounded; Sergeant Henry, at Fort Dinwiddie, killed; James Stuart, at Cowpasture, killed; James Stuart, Jr., at Cowpasture, prisoner; James McClung and 2 children named Cantwell at Cowpasture, prisoner. October, James McFerrin, at Catowba, killed; Wm. McFerrin, at Catowba, prisoner. November, 3 Dutch people, at Brooks Gap, 2 prisoners, 1 killed. (Note: The William McFerrin listed as taken prisoner may be a young son of James McFerrin).

I, therefore, in his Majesty's name, command you to apprehend and inclose the said Mathew Young in close prison until it appears that the said Bready is in a way of recovery, and that he, the said Young, be discharged by due course of law. You are likewise to apprehend and inclose one John Walker, who appears to vindicate the above Young in his desired murder, &c. Given under my hand and seal, this first day of September, 1747.
