Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA

Acquisition of Land in Virginia:

  • Page 133 - Robert McAnair, 83 acres, Fork of the James River. Adjoining David McCord. June 5, 1769. [Abstract of Land Grant Surveys, 1761-1791, Augusta & Rockingham Counties, Virginia, by Peter Cline Kaylor, pg. 48].

Notes

One Familytreemaker researcher has this Robert McNair as the father of Daniel McNair, who had also acquired land on the James River, but no evidence/sources to support this are given. There are apparently no records in early Orange or Augusta County records to support this Daniel McNair to be born much prior to 1748. It is thought by this researcher that Robert may be a possible son of Daniel McNair. More research needed.
