  1. Tradition has it that Robert was killed by Indians at the mouth of the Indian Creek, on the Pound River, near Pound Virginia. He was hunting with James Green, and "a man named McKinney". Only McKinney was able to escape. The date of this event is various given as 21 December, 1782, and 31 December, 1782. Independent documentation both for the event itself, and its date, has not been found...so far.
