Glasgow, Robert, born 1749 in County Derry, Ireland; came 1769 to Nottingham County, Virginia (no such County in Virginia, per compiler); entered service 1780 in Rockbridge County, Virginia; applied for pension 1834 in Adams County, Ohio, where resided; Pension Application rejected, less than 6 months service; query letter in file 1929 from Great grandaughter Sarah E. Glasgow Patton of Fresno, Ca; query leter in file 1907 from descendant Minniola May Littell of Corydon, Iowa; query letter in file states soldier came to America from County Down, Ireland, 1765, landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, settled in Rockbridge County, Virginia, moved 1796 to Adams County, Ohio, where he died in 1834. F-R4057, R1080.

Of Scotch ancestry, came from North Ireland with his brothers Joseph and Arthur in 1765, settled in Nottingham County, Virginia. Moved to Rockbridge County, Virginia in 1769. Soldier in American Revolution. Moved to Adams County, Ohio in 1806.

Classification: Query Surnames: Glasgow, Finley, McCutchan Robert Finley Glasgow was born in Adams county in 1820, he is found in the 1850 and 1860 census there. His father Robert Barclay Glasgow was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, his mother Rosannah Finley was born in 1789 in Virginia. His parents also moved to Illinois to Peoria county and are buried in the Smithfield cemetery there.Robert Finley Glasgow's grandfather Robert Glasgow was born in 1749 in Derry, Londonderry, Ireland. This family was one that removed first to Ireland from Scotland and then to the US. His grandson Robert McCutchan refers to the death of Grandfather Glasgow in July of 1839 in Adams county, Ohio
