Robert Rader Cline, 74, of Charleston died Tuesday, Jan 2, 1996, in CAMC [Charleston Area Medical Center] General Division, after a long illness [diagnosed at Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's; he died shortly after flu was contracted].

He was a 37-year resident of Charleston, retired from the State Department of Human Services as division director of research and statistics, with 40 years of service, a Naval Air Corps vetern of World War II, a graduate of Marietta (Ohio) College and Marshall University, member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school superintendent and lay leader, a member of the American Public Welfare Association and former member of the faculty at Morris Harvey College [now, Charleston University] in the 1960s and 1970s.

Surviving wife: Hazel Boice Cline; sons Michael and Mark of Charleston, Russell of Colts Neck, NJ; two grandchildren [David and Christopher].

Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home with the Rev. Fredric Villinger [then newly-appointed Pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Charleston] officiating. Burial will be in the Prosperity Brethern Cemetry [Dunkard Church Cemetry], Wirt County. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
