    Note that 2 colors of ink are used on the death certificate. Robert's parents' names are given as [blank] Carter and Nancy [blank] in black, and then William (as father's first name) and Hensley (as mother's surname) are entered in blue along with their birth places, presumably later. Hensley was Robert's mother's married name after Robert was born, not her maiden name. It appears that "William Carter" was a fiction because Robert's biological father was unknown.
