Was born 1714 in Exeter, Devonshire, England. He was the son of William Byers (The
emigrant), born May 6, 1687 in Saint Ives, Cornwallshire, England and Elisabeth Cox born September 4, 1688 in Exeter, Devonshire, England. She was the daughter of James Cox born June 7, 1649 and Agnes Virginia Best born August 8, 1654. Robert was a grandson of William Byers (The seaman) born August 11, 1647 at Saint Ives, England and Louisa Kinkade born July 6, 1654 at Saint Ives, Cornwallshire, England.
Robert’s family shipped to America in 1734 and landed at Philadelphia. He lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He married Margaret White about 1732 in Cavan County, Ireland. She was born August 24, 1715 in Milltown, Ireland. The date of her death is not known. They had eight children. Robert wed second, Margaret Smith born February 3, 1728 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. They had two children. They moved to Rowan County in 1764. Margaret died April 22, 1772 in Rowan County, North Carolina and Robert died May 2, 1775 in Rowan County.
