Robert Andrews, a native of Boxford in England. He emigrated to New England, and settled in Boxford about 1656; his family then consisting of himself and wife and six children.
Mr. Andrews died May 29, 1668. His will was dated May 16, 1668; and proved 1st of 5 mo., 1668. His widow Grace, whom he married about 1636, survived him, and continued in a single state until her death, which occurred Dec. 25, 1700 (?) (sic)... They were both interred in the cemetery at Topsfield, probably, as he requested to be in his will.

"Robert Andrews, of Rowley" made his will 16 May 1668, proved 15 Nov 1668 [sic, see following note], mentions wife; Thomas eldest son, Robert, Mary wife of Isaac Cummings, Elizabeth wife of Samuel Simonds, Hannah Peabody, John under 21, Joseph, Rebecca, Sarah, and Ruth (last three minors); 7 grandchildren under 14, names not given.

Records and Files of the Quarterly Courts of Essex County, Massachusetts, p. 4:, under "Court Held at Salem, June 30, 1668" says "The will and inventory of Robert Andrews were proved and allowed." (No specific date is attached to this record, nor to the inventory given in a footnote, but clearly prior to start of the next term on 29 Sep 1668. Source:NEHGR, p. 98:20 says 2 Jul 1668.) One can only guess that some notation such as "1 5 mon '68" was misread by MHGR and others as 15 Nov?]
