Richard seems confused about his place of birth, in 1851 he said at sea, 1871 it was Gibraltar then in 1881 he claims Westbury in Wiltshire. Most likely his parents were from Westbury and for some reason they went to Gibraltar and back around his date of birth, but some documents are required to study further.

There is a Richard, born abroad, with wife Harriott and children Ellen and Edwin age 3 and 1 in Staverton, Trowbridge, Melksham, Wiltshire in 1841.
