"Rezin Judd was born Dec. 26, 1798, in Mason county, Ky., and taken when a child to Clermont county, Ohio. He was married, in the adjoining county of Brown, Jan. 3, 1822, to Eve Shinkle, who was born in that county Dec. 2, 1804. They had two children, and moved to Sangamon county, Ill., arriving in the fall of 1826, in what is now Clear Lake township, where his brothers, Ezekiel and Corban, had settled the year before. They had eight children in Sangamon county-- Albert J. and Mary I. died, each in their fourth year. Eliza A., born Oct. 18, 1822, in Brown county, Ohio, married in Sangamon county to Thomas A. Magee...Nelson S., born Oct. 22, 1825, in Brown county, Ohio... and live three miles southwest of Dawson, Sangamon county, Illinois. John A., born Sept. 6, 1830, in Sangamon county, died Oct. 7, 1848. Arminda R., born April 17, 1833, in Sangamon county, married John H. Shankland. They have three children, and live in Riverton. William W., born Aug. 19, 1836, in Sangamon county. He served three months in Co. F, 70th Ill. Inf.; and enlisted in May, 1864, for one hundred days, in Co. I, 133d Ill. Inf., served full term, and was honorably discharged. He is Postmaster, at Dawson, and lives with his mother--1874. Margaret E., born Feb. 13, 1839, in Sangamon county, married, May 30, 1871, to Robert Alls...They have one child, Rezin A., and live near Dawson, Illinois. Marquis L., born Dec. 23, 1841, in Sangamon county, enlisted in 1862, for three years, in Co. F, 70th Ill. Inf.; served full term, and was honorably discharged. He lives in Dawson. Rezin A. V., born Dec. 16, 1846, in Sangamon county, and lives with his mother. Rezin Judd died July 7, 1873, and his widow resides with her three sons, in Dawson, Sangamon county, Illinois.   "Judd, Rezin A. V., agent of the Illinois Traction Company at Dawson ....was born in Clear Lake Township, Sangamon County, December 16, 1846, a son of Rezin and Eve (Shinkle) Judd, the former born in Mason County, Ky., December 26, 1798, and the latter in Brown County, Ohio, December 2, 1804. The father went to Ohio from Kentucky when only five years of age, being taken there by his parents, and Brown County, of that State, remained the family home until 1826, when migration was made to Sangamon County and settlement effected eight and one-half miles east of Springfield, in Clear Lake Township. In 1857 removal was made to Dawson, where the father conducted a store, and there he died in 1873. His widow survived him until 1888. William Judd, grandfather of Rezin A. V. Judd, founded the family in this country, coming from his native land, Wales, while on the maternal side the origin was of German stock. Ten children were born to Rezin and Eve Judd, six sons and four daughters, of whom there are three surviving sons, all residents of Dawson: R. A.  "Marquis Judd, retired farmer of Dawson whose parents were Resin and Eve (Shinkle) Judd. The father emigrated with his parents from Kentucky to Ohio when he was 5 years old. The family settled in Clermont County, that State, lived there 28 years when they moved to Illinois making the journey by wagon and passing through woods and unbridged streams. They found the new country plentifully peopled by Indians. They acquired 208 acres of Government land 2 miles East of Clear Lake where they made improvements and farmed until 1857. In 1858 they traded their land for houses and a stock of merchandise in Dawson where the elder Judd died in 1876. Their son William W. managed a store at Dawson on Lewis Street between Walnut and Main. Resin A. V. Judd was Agent for the Illinois Traction System at Dawson and Marquis was the first carrier on Dawson Rural Delivery Route No. 21, which he drove for 6 years. Resin A.
