"Anno (16)62: May 23:
Written from Mr. Renold Marvins mouth and willed by himselfe
Unto my son Renold Marvin I give my house and all my lands.
I will that unto each of my grand children there be provided and given a bible as soone as they are capable of using them, and thes be provided out of the executorship.
for the movable houshold goods I doe will that my son Renold in all particulars have two parts and my daughter Mare one. as followeth: that he may have two fether-beds and she one. that he may have two pare of sheets and she one pare as far as they will goe, and so likewise concerning all movable goods in the house
Concerning the cowes and young cattell my will is that the forementioned distribution be attended; excepting the four oxen which I give unto my son Renold.
Concerning my wives waring cloathes and linnen belonging to her I leave it to my daughter Mares dispose.
my horses and mares with their increas I give unto my son Renold: onely one horse or maire I give to Mare.
Concerning the sheep and swine I will that Renold have two parts and Mare one.
there is a debt of twentie pounds due from John Warner of Farmington which debt I give to my daughter Mare. excepting five pounds which I shall leave with her to be disposed of according to my appointment.
I appoint my son William Waler to be the executor of this will to see to the performance of it: I appoint that twenty shillings be allowed out of my estate for his recompence.
That this is my act and deed I do confirm by subscribing by my hand.

    This source errs in saying that the Reinold Marvin who emigrated to New England was baptized 7 June 1593. Subsequent research, by 1904, established that the 1593 Reinold was buried the day after his baptism and that this Reinold was baptized at Great Bentley 25 Oct 1594.

    Reinold, son of Edward and Margaret Marvin, was baptized 25 Oct. 1594, in St. Mary's Church, Great Bentley, Essex, England. He died in Lyme, Ct., in the summer of 1662; his will is dated May 23 [1662]; the Inventory was presented 28 October of that year.

    Reinold, Renold, Renald, Renall, etc., bap. at Great Bentley 25 Oct. 1594. He received from his father lands called Moysses, in the parish of Great Oakley, but he lived in Great Bentley, and was overseer of the latter parish in 1625 and 1637, and churchwarden in 1627, 1633 and 1634. He was taxed for ship-money at Great Bentley in 1636. He migrated to New England late in 1637 or early in 1638, and was in Hartford, Conn., with his younger brother Matthew, in 1638. He seems to have removed to Farmington in 1639-40, and afterwards to Saybrook, where he was made a freeman 20 May 1658. Still later, he removed to that part of Saybrook which later became Lyme, Conn., and there he d. in the summer of 1662. He m. in 1617 or 1618 Mary -----, who d. in that part of Saybrook which later became Lyme in the summer of 1661. Her death was attributed to witchcraft on the part of Nicholas Jennings of Saybrook and his wife Margaret. Reinold and Mary Marvin had nine children. There is a detailed account of this family in Descendants, pp. 26 and 29-35.
