Passed away peacefully, at home, Monday evening, May 22, 2006. Ron [Rod] was born August 19, 1923, in Inwood, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Gertrude (Oldenkamp) DeVries. Ron grew up in Oakwood where he attended school and helped his parents in the family gas station/grocery/store/restaurant. Ron later was employed at Upjohns and Meijers in Plainwell. He retired after many years from farming in Oshtemo. Ron was united in marriage to his first wife June Maxine DeVries, they had five children. June preceded Ron in death on December 5, 1997. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Lawrence and brother George DeVries of Oakwood, sisters-in-law Doris Gunn and Beverly Decker. On July 21, 2005, Ron was united in marriage to Billie Leinaar of Delton. Ron and Billie shared a love of music and dancing. They could be found most weeks dancing and listening to music at Country Fever, Maple Leaf or Lake Odessa. Ron is survived by his wife, Billie, his children ... and 12 great-grandchildren. ... Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
