Marriage: (2) By about 1635 Rebecca ____; she joined her husband as grantor on a deed of 22 June 1651 [PCR 12:209].
"Citing a supposed entry in the Hobart diary, Mary Walton Ferris suggested that Rebecca was daughter of Edmund Hobart of Hingham, but this entry may not have existed, and the identity of Rebecca (_____) Bangs remains unknown [NEHGR 121:4, 56]."
Source:Ferris, Mary Felton. Dawes - Gates Ancestral Lines, p. 2:66, indicates that Edward Bangs m. (2) about 1635-7 Rebecca who signed a deed with him 1651. [A footnote on this page has the comment about the Hobart Journal where Peter Hobart "referred to a trip of his to Easham to attend the funeral of 'sister Bangs'". The author also notes that Jonathan Bangs, Edward's son, named one of his sons Hubbard, presumably based on Rebecca's maiden name.]
Also, Source:Charles Smith and Rachel Amy Bryant : their ancestors and descendants, p. 179, which was published 7 years later, says:
"From the diary of the Rev. Peter Hobart.
I was born Oct. 13, 1604.
Father Hobart died Mar. 8, 1646.
Mother Hobart died June 23, 1649.
Went to Eastham to attend the funeral of sister Rebecca Bangs."
[It is clear, and implied by the accompanying text, that these entries are not consecutive. Unfortunately, it is also clear that the spelling has been changed and the entries have been reformatted into statements instead of the original format found in NEHGR, p. 121:7. Thus, we cannot trust this as an accurate representation.]
