Rebecca Baxter was born in 1783 in Augusta County, Virginia, the child of Col. George and Mary. She married James Allen Tate Sr. and they had one son together. She then had two sons and two daughters from another relationship. She died as a young mother on February 25, 1817, in Rockingham County, Virginia, at the age of 34, and was buried in Middlebrook, Virginia.
