Rites Held For Raymond Samek

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville for Raymond F. Samek, Postville cafe owner, who passed away at Postville Hospital following a heart attack. The rites were in charge of the Rev. Walter T. Martin of the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Raymond Francis Samek died at Postville Hospital early Friday morning after a heart attack. He was born May 15, 1901, at Giard, Iowa, a son of Emma and Frank Samek. He was educated in the Postville schools. He married Veva Churchill on November 16, 1940, and made his home in Postville, owning and operating the Palm Cafe.

Surviving are his wife Veva; his father, Frank Samek; a brother, Leo and a nephew, Lee Samek, of Waukon.

Mr. Samek was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Kiwanis and the Tri-City Golf Club.
