Barber and Delory say that Rachel (Varney) Cook and Joseph Langton were married "before 1652". Rachel last appeared in Court Records as Rachel Cooke on 31 Dec 1650, and Joseph was in Court on 1 July 1652 for mistreatment of her child, giving end dates within which the marriage most likely occurred.

Hugh Rowe, son of the first settler (John), married Rachel Langton, June 10, 1667. She may have been a daughter of William Vinson, who, in a deed, calls Rowe his son-in-law. [She was his step-daughter by virtue of her mother's third marriage.] Rachel Langton, died March 7, 1674, leaving three daughters, who married three sons of Anthony Day.

  4. Based on court records, Rachel's parents married sometime between December 1650 and July 1652, say 1651 at the earliest. (See Barber and Delory in sources.) This would suggest that the earliest Rachel was born was 1651. Rachel herself married in 1667, presumably at least fifteen years of age at the time, so that she was born by 1652. Most likely she was born sometime late in 1651 or early in 1652. Rachel was probably born in Ipswich, where the families of both parents lived.
