Research Notes

• Since her marriage was out of unity with the Quakers, she was disciplined by the Darby Meeting on 27 Sept 1770 and by 29 Nov 1770 it was noted in the records that she had "removed with her husband into Virginia." There she joined the Hopewell Meeting via a certificate of removal from Darby Meeting dated 29 Aug 1771. An earlier record in the Darby Meeting notes that she had "sent an acknowledgement of her offense in going out in her marriage" to the Darby Meeting "that she may be recommended to Hopewell Monthly Meeting in Virginia." These documents clearly tie Rachel Hall, wife of Richard Longacre of Frederick County, VA, to Rachel Hall, daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Hibberd) Hall of Chester/Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
