'Benjamin [son of Samuel and Abigail (Griswold) Kilbourne], born about 1796 in Kitley, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. He married Rachel BENEDICT before 1818 in Leeds County, Ontario, Canada. She was born about 1796 in Bastard, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Joseph BENEDICT and Esther KETCHUM. Rachel died Sep 1855 in Kitley, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. Benjamin died in Kitley, Leeds, Ontario, Canada.'

A Kilbourn family book published in 1856 says that Benjamin died Sep 1855 but does not mention the death of Rachel. A Benedict family book published in 1870 gives a death in Sep 1855 which seems to refer to Rachel, but the information is presented somewhat ambiguously and could refer to Benjamin. Based on the Kilbourn book, it was probably Benjamin, not Rachel, who died Sep 1855.

    'Ch. [of Joseph Benedict] ...
Rachel, m. Benjamin Kilbourn, officer (Canadian) in war of 1812; d. Sept., 1855.'

The format would suggest that Rachel died Sep 1855. However, a Kilbourn family book published in 1856 says that Benjamin died Sep 1855, and does not mention Rachel's death.
