In 1892, when he was 24 years old, Plummer appears to have sowed his wild oats, resulting in a bastardy suit brought by a Mary C. Brillhart. (No other details are known; no court file has been found and the news story was very obliquely written.) He moved to Indianapolis shortly thereafter, presumably in part to escape his legal troubles.
