BIRTH-BURIAL: Display seen in Jul 2004 at the Colchester Historical Society Museum in Truro, N.S. Born in 1736 in Village Aucoin, one of the Cobequid settlements, today known as Bible Hill. He was the second youngest son of Jean AUCOIN & Marguerite PITRE. He died at the age of 91 years, and is buried in Chéticamp where his name is among those on a white Celtic cross in Belle Marche, near Chéticamp, which honors "Les 14 Vieux."

MARRIAGE: Could Pierre have been married before Felicite LE BLANC? Have son named Simon AUCOIN who traveled with them from Bristol, England to France in 1763?

Pierre AUCOIN, born 1728 [sic], son of Jean & Marguerite PITRE, married 1st around 1760 to Félicité LeBLANC; ten children. He married 2nd around 1782 to Marie DOUCET [sic]. He was at Saint Servan of Saint Malo in 1772; in 1773 he returned to England "doubtless" the Isle of Jersey, as did several other Acadian refugees, in order to take passage on one of the ships of Charles ROBIN who fished at the time at Cape Breton and the Bay of Chaleurs, while at the same period he settled at Chéticamp on Cape Breton, along with his brother Joseph.

Family #25 aboard the roll dated 17 May 1763 of Acadian families embarked [at Bristol, England] aboard the royal frigate "La Dorothee," bound for St. Malo, France. Pierre AUCOIN, [wife] Felicite AUCOIN [LE BLANC], [son] Anselme, Anne LE BLANC [sister of Felicite?], plus Joseph AUCOIN [brother of Pierre] and Simon AUCOIN [another brother, or son by an earlier marriage?].

Pierre AUCOIN, born about 1737, married about 1762 in England to Felicite LEBLANC, daughter of Pierre & Francoise TERRIOT; five children listed. Pierre and wife and son disembarked at St. Malo from England on 23 May 1763 from the ship "La Dorothee." They resided at Plouer from 1763-1766 and 1769-1771; at St. Servan 1767-1768 and 1772-1773. According to the Roll of 1772 this family went to England in Mar 1773. No further information.

Lived in St. Malo, France area, hired on as commercial fisherman with an English company aboard the fishing vessel "Charles Robin" in 1785. Returned with his brother Joseph to help found Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1785-1786.
