BIOGRAPHY:

He received his education in the little red brick school house in the district in his native town. Afterward, he attended the public schools in Woodstock VT for two years. He came to Rutland VT in 1888, and went into the office of Lincoln Iron Works as bookkeeper and continued for about 6 years. He was then made manager of the jobbing department, afterward secretary of the company, then secretary and treasurer, and eventually treasurer and he is also a director of the corporation, and treasurer of the Steam Stone Cutting Company, which is operated under the management of the Lincoln Iron Works. He is a member of Rutland Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Davenport Chapter - Royal Arch Masons; Killington Commandery, Knights Templar, of which he is a past commander. He is recorder of Cairo Temple Associates, and was one of the prime movers in building the new temple recently erected in Rutland by that body. He is deacon of the Congregational Church of Rutland (Cutter book p373).
