    PERMAN MATTOX SUCCUMBS SUNDAY.

A heart seizure which came without warning shortly before midnight Sunday terminated the life of Perman L. Mattox, for three years a member of the Rensselaer Republican mechanical office department personnel. Death was instantaneous and came a few minutes after he had retired for the night. He had not been stricken previously.

Dr. A. G. Oats, acting Coroner, entered a finding of death due to angine pectoris.

Mr. and Mrs. Mattox had spent Christmas in lafayette. They returned to their residence on East Angelica street Sunday morning and spent the day quietly at home. He had not complained of feeling indisposed but a few days he was afflicted with a slight cold at which time he mentioned that he had pains in his chest. On one other occasion within recent days he said he was experiencing slight chest pains.

Mr. Mattox was born one mile west of Wolcott on April 1, 1894, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mattox. He was educated in the Wolcott schools and was a member of the 1911 graduating class of Wolcott high school. Shortly following his graduation he worked at the Wolcott depot with a view to learning telegraphy. A year later he became an apprentice telegrapher at LaCrosse, but after a few months returned to Wolcott at the request of the late L. M. Kean, for many years the publisher of the Wolcott Enterprise. Following the death of Mr. Kean, Mr. Mattox became editor and manager of the Enterprise in which capacity he remained until a few years ago when the plant was sold by Mrs. Kean. Following that he was employed by the Monon News where he remained until taking employment at the Republican.

Mr. Mattox was married to Miss Emma Kean of Wolcott on February 19, 1913. To this union was born a son, Frank. Besides the wife and son the immediate survivors are a sister, Mrs. C. W. Sentman of laPorte, two brothers, Connie of Culver and Ernest of Morocco, and two grandchildren, Diane and louis Mattox of Lafayette. His mother passed away at LaPorte on December 3, this year.

Quiet and efficient, well read and with a deep sense of humor, Mr. Mattox had formed many close friendships furing his comparatively brief residence in Rensselaer. He was well known over a wide area as an outstanding printer and linotype operator, and during his Wolcott days, as an editor. He possessed in generous degree the qualities that attract and hold friendships. He was "Pete" Mattox every day, a genuine follow whose passing comes as a tremendous shock to all who had enjoyed his acquaintance.

Funeral services were conducted from the W. J. Wright Chapel at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Weston cemetery at Rensselaer.
