Peleg Sanford (10 May 1639 – 1701) was an early governor of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, serving three consecutive terms from 1680 to 1683. Called son-in-law in will of William Brenton - to "my son-in-law Mr. Peleg Sanford ... one eighth part of my land at Natticott ... and all my right ... in Elizabeth's Island ... and all the debts due to me in the Island of Barbados" [edit] WillDated Feb. 28, 1700/1; proved Sept. 1, 1701. Names wife Mary; Exors: Francis Brinley, Nathaniel Coddington & Andrew Willett were made guardians of minor children: Peleg, William, Bridget & Elizabeth; eldest daughter Ann Sanford; sister Eliphal Stratton; nieces: Mary Brinley, Mary Cole & Katherine Vernon.
