Paul Stephan, one of the old residents of this community, died quite suddenly at his home in Little Sauk Monday, April 1, at two o'clock in the morning. His death was due to a tumor. He had been ailing for about three weeks and had been seriously ill for one week. The funeral is to take place this morning from the Catholic church in this village, Rev. Father Britcher officiating, and interment will be in the cemetery of the church. Mr. Stephan was born in Germany October 8, 1868. At an early age he came to this country with his parents and they located in this community October 6, 1882. He had resided here ever since. For many years he lived on a farm just north of the village, but last summer moved to a farm in western Little Sauk, where he resided up to the time of his death. About 30 years ago he was married to Miss Bertha Rosenow, who survivies him. He is also survived by the following children: Robert, who lives at home; Mrs. August Bruder of Reynolds; Mrs. John Bruder of Iona, and Nick, Lydia, Lawrence, Sigfried and Garlinda, who reside at home. He is also survivied by three brothers, Carl, Robert and August, the latter being the County Treasurer. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. B.J. Laumeyer and Mrs. Phillip Petre of this village, and Mrs. Nick Kiefer. His sudden illness and death was a great shock to his family and friends and in their bereavement they will have the sympathy of all.
