Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 117-120. 23-24 July 1740. William Beverley of Essex County, Gent., to Patrick Cook of Augusta County, farmer. Lease and release; [consideration not stated]. 590 acres in Beverley Manor... (signed) W. Beverley. Wit: John Lewis, John Willson. 24 July 1740. Acknowledged by Wm. Beverley, Gent. [Relinquishment of dower as above, Beverley to Page]. Will of Patrick Cook
From Chalkley's Chronicles:
- Page 123.--12th December, 1748. Patrick Cook's will--Wife, Jane; daughter, Mary (infant); son, John (infant). If children die in infancy, care to be taken to find the nearest blood relations, and, in their default, then the estate to be given in care to the Presbytery of New Castle to be laid out in pious uses and to support the gospel here. Executors, James Lockhart and Patrick Martin. Teste: John Risk, Pat Martin. Proved, 17th February, 1748, by both witnesses.

Same (From William Beverley) to Jean Cook, widow, and John and Mary Cook, minors (the whole contains 802 acres), 2/3 of 2 tracts in one place, and to John Cook the remainder of the other third sold to Jane Cook, widow, during her life, according to will of Patrick Cook, her late husband. 1748, in Augusta--Nathan Lusk's line; John McCutchin's line. - 6. Jane Young b. County Antrim and migrated to America, to Augusta Co., VA. Married 1) Patrick Cook and had children Mary (who married William Deane) and John who was killed at North Mountain when young.
