Oswald Farquhar Lumsden, aged 19, studied arts 1893-4 at Edinburgh University; he was b. at Binghill, Aberdeenshire, went to school at Bon Accord, Aberdeen (5and half yrs) and Merchiston Castle, Edinburgh (5and half yrs) (archives.lib.ed.ac.uk). Oswald passed criminal law exam at Lincolns Inn, London in 1908, and final exam may1924 (Times). Oswald played cricket for the Europeans (India) in the 1922/23 season (archive). On death 1923 of Sir Robert Russell Simpson, 23 Douglas Cresc., Edinburgh, WS, a beneficiary was Oswald Farquhar Lumsden; in 1932 Oswald was again a beneficiary (GWR shares). Sir Robert Russell Simpson, lawyer and philanthropist, d. 1923, Edinburgh; he was son of Alexander Simpson, Bathgate banker, nephew of James Young Simpson, physician, and son in law of Samuel Raleigh, manager of Scottish Widows Fund (Times).
