The distinguished Dr. Oliver was a surgen, pharmacist, musician and composer of the parish of St. Clement Danes, London. Came to Bendigo in 1870, and lived in Bendigo for nearly 60 years. Dr. Oliver Penfold had a long association with the building at 32 View Street. It was built for Dr. Penfold in 1879, and he used as his medical practice and residence for 45 years.

Dr Oliver Penfold studied in London to become a doctor.
