OLIVE LUCILLE BUTT, daughter of CHARLES BUTT JR. and LILLIE BELLE PARKE, was born on 16 Dec 1917 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. She was the fourth of the eight children of Charles Butt Jr and Lillie Belle Parke. There were 3 girls and five boys. Olive was the middle child in every way, not only being fourth of eight, but she was also the middle girl of the three girls. It was the Butt family custom to name children after relatives. Olive was named for her grandmother Olive Lockwood Parke and her aunt Lucy Butt.

She married HENRY JOSEPH HYDE, son of CHARLES HYDE and MARY RINKE, on 7 Sep 1937 at Crown Point, Lake County, Indiana, at the age of 19. Olive would suffer two more deaths in a short time. Her mother Lillie Belle died in July 1947 and then husband Henry died only 6 months later in February 1948. After only 11 years of marriage, the 31 year old Olive was a left a widow, the sole support of her three daughters, without her mother to turn to for help.

Olive lived the latter part of her life in Amite, Louisiana. Her youngest daughter Sandy married someone from that area. Olive probably moved there to be with her grandchildren and away from the hard memories of life in Chicago and Detroit.

Several generations of Butt family descendants found their way to Louisiana. Mary "Sandy" Butt Murray married Carey Murray of Holden, Louisiana and they raised their family in Louisiana. Sandy's mother Olive later moved there. Olive's younger brother Bob moved to Louisiana after his divorce and started a second family. Barbara, Olive's daughter, Sandy's older sister, and Bob's niece, moved there with her younger children after her 1983 divorce. Many of Olive and Bob's descendants still live in Louisiana today (written in 2008).

She died on 19 Dec 1971 at Amite, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, at age 54. She died of Heart Failure, Diabetes. She was buried in Cedar Park Cemetery, at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
