Facts and Events
Major in Revolutionary War under General Spotswood. Sometimes called Col. Long, however, but this is not due to his being a Colonel in the Revolutionary War. Perhaps it was an honorific, as Col. was a common honorific term.S1 There is some confusion related to this Nicholas Long. There was another Nicholas in nearby Culpepr County, VA, who settled in Tennessee. There is also at least one other Col. Nicholas Long from the Revolutionary War from Halifax, NC, and possible another from Georgia. DAR applications records indicate yet another Nicholas Long of Culpeper Co., VA, who married Elizabeth Brannin and died in Scott Co., KY. References
